The black represents the soil in a Farmer’s field. The farmer went out to sow - you could put seeds in the bag and scatter them - (turn the bag) and some fell on the path which was hard from people walking on it so the seed lay on the surface and the birds took it. Then some of the seed fell on rocky soil (turn) and the sun came out and it withered and died. Some of the seed then fell among thorns (turn) and they grew up and killed the seed. Some (turn) fell on good soil and grew up and there was a good harvest.
